The Francy Line

The debut collection by Kalbeliya Kala is The Francy Line, a youthful and evocative interpretation of traditional beaded jewellery pioneered by the Kalbeliya Community. This exclusive line is named after Francesca Zebri, a student of Eastern Languages at the University of Venice, who spent two months working with Thorr Collective. 

During her time in Jodhpur, Francesca co-created this line with Suwa Devi. Sitting beside Suwa in her village home, Francesca immersed herself in the their daily life, learning about Kalbeliya art and their intricate beadwork traditions.

Over many shared conversations, observations, and hands-on experimentation, The Francy Line took form as a collection that blends Francesca’s fresh perspective with the impeccable Kalbeliya craft. Drawing inspiration from the environment around her and the jewellery worn by the women of the community, this line carries the imprint of cultural exchange, rooted in respect and mutual creativity.
